Operation Verona : Tackling VAWG in Barking

We’re proud to share the success of Operation Verona, a proactive initiative focused on tackling Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) in our community.

Officers from EASTBURY, Longbridge and Gascoigne wards joined forces to conduct high-visibility patrols and community engagement in key locations including BARKING PARK, GREATFIELDS PARK, and UPNEY STATION.

As a result of this operation:

7 pieces of actionable intelligence were gathered to support ongoing investigations.

A positive stop and search resulted in a PND (Penalty Notice for Disorder) being issued for possession of drugs.

Officers provided visible reassurance to women and girls, promoting safety and confidence in public spaces.

Several individuals were engaged, and anti-social behaviour hotspots were proactively addressed.

Community feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with local residents and businesses expressing their appreciation for the visible police presence and swift response to concerns.

Operation Verona highlights our commitment to working with the public to create safer spaces for everyone.
